Young Billy Godleman continues to impress me.

Essex not looking too good, RTD falls for single figures :(
Godleman - love him. Have a genuinely good feeling about him, and somehow have ever since I first saw his name. Odd really, and probably means nothing, but hey.

Is he an opener by trade? I think he was batting in the middle order earlier in the season, but moved up to the top for this game.

Again, I'm not actually in the know, but I'd imagine he has experience there as it'd make little sense to chuck a really young player like him to the wolves in a specialist position he's not familiar with.

Indeed, wasn't sure whether he was forced up because of Strauss playing against the West Indies or whether he was being kept down the order when Strauss was in the side.

There used to be an irritatingly militant Middlesex fan on the BBC Sport forum (bizarrely she was in her 60's and Jewish - not what you'd have expected given the abuse she used to dish out to people who didn't agree with her!) who was quite obsessed with Godleman. I'm sure she'd know where he usually batted, and how to pronounce his name.

I have a feeling that he is an opener and that he played his first few 1st team games for Middlesex in the middle order, before they realised that he's far superior to Ben Hutton and moved him up to open the innings.

Graham Napier launching a counter attack for Essex, with any luck he'll drag us up to 200.

Nice work by Harris. Kadeer Ali notches up his second FC century, he has to have one of the worst century to match ratios for a specialist batsman. Before this game it was 1 every 50-odd games. Benkenstein missed out on a ton, ended up 93* as the Warwickshire vs Durham game was drawn. Murray Goodwin going really well for Sussex, currently on 167*. Graham Napier did really well for Essex, in a match that will end up in a draw.

Bit annoying Durham lost out on at least one more batting bonus point. 9 points isn't too bad tho when you've got wins to go with it.

Yeah 2 100s in 50 Fc games is dire tbh.
Yeah I have a simple rule of thumb when trying to get a quick, if not foolproof, evaluation of a player from basic stats.

That is a century less than every 10 innings is exceptional and bodes well for the future.

Kadeer Ali now has one every 48 innings. Woeful. Someone like Chris Read (who Ive been recently critical of his FC record) has one approx every 30 innings.

Just to illustrate real class. KP has a ton every 6.4 innings at FC level.

On a good note. Ive certainly never seen him play or know anything about him, but well done to Harris for great match figures at such a young age.

Napier hit 62 of 72 in boundaries, that's a fair effort!

These games were a write-off really after the rain we've had, just about bonus points.
