*Official* English Football Season 2012-13

Norwood's on Fire
Automatic a tall order for us now. Not beyond the question though if we somehow get back on track and spring a few wins together.

Well it'd be hard to begrudge any of Van Persie, Suarez or Bale the top awards this season.
Does the fact that RVP has made such a significant difference to where the title is ending up give him an edge over the other two? He's the only major change to either of the Manchester clubs from last season and it has had a massive impact.

Ugh.

We've been the better side itbt. Szczesny should've done much better. Come and then stopped.

**** this ****.

It's a strange game, had either side even got a shot in before the goal? Giroud had one blocked by Vertonghen but I think that was it. Both defences basically just declared their penalty box off limits.

I thought Arsenal would find a way through first because they're so much better at passing but they only have Walcott running in behind, whereas Spurs have both Bale and Lennon. Podolski surely should have started.

Spurs play Liverpool (a), Swansea (a), Everton (h), Chelsea (a), City (h) in next seven.Sandro out for the season already and maybe no Dembele too..

They could still Spurs this.

Wenger really is tactically naive sometimes. Give your defence some extra protection. Holding a high line without pressing the ball and with slow defenders, against 2 of the quickest wingers in the league who like to come in was never gonna work.

You can't exactly blame Wenger for the lack of pressing, complete unawareness and inability to track runs. He started with Ramsey deep alongside Arteta, not sure how much more protection he could've given the back four..

Podolski not starting was a bad move. All in all an even game between two reasonably well matched sides, split only by two horrible goals. Further evidence that Arsenal just don't concede good goals, just make horrible errors repeatedly.

That said, their defensive line was all over the place today, was caught in a zigzag shape several times.

I thought Arsenal pressed quite well. You can't expect them to have pressure on the ball 100% of the time but as you said yourself at the time, they'd controlled the ball for most of the time before Spurs scored, and a lot of that was down to good pressing.

And you can't track runs when the team has a clear plan to play the runners offside. I think Wenger just has to cop this one. I can't really defend completely failing to adjust to a threat as obvious as Bale+Lennon running in behind. You compare it to United's tactics at WHL and it just looks hopelessly naive.

But look at the Lennon goal, neither of Vermaelen or Monreal knew where he was. Playing offside when you're unaware of your opponent's position is just lol-silly. Even Szczesny seemed to be taken by surprise when Lennon latched onto the pass

Also, not sure what Ramsey is supposed to be, but whatever it is, he's not good enough at it.
Was a promising youngster until the leg break and never really looked the part since. Hasn't improved and is now at an age where he should be taking control of midfield but doesn't. Transfer to Cardiff when they come up?
