They can **** right off If they even think about wanting him now, not that Uwe would be anything like silly enough to go near them. Seems they want Appleton anyway, obviously his two wins since joining Blackpool have convinced them of something...

Think Bale is on 80k and while you might not have said anything about him personally, the fact that one is lauded by all and sundry and the other continually criticised (untill this season at least) is somewhat of a double-standard.
AFAIK we offered RVP 130k + incentives |

Agree that Walcott has often been unfairly treated, I just wouldn't be paying him £90,000 a week.
Maybe I have have not realised quite how inflated wages have got but I am still imagine that very few players outside the top 3 clubs would be on that much. |

Well that's the thing, when everyone around you is paying much more than you are you're going to have to pay slightly more than you wanted to in order to keep players. We're giving him 90k and there's no doubt that had he spoken to Chelsea/City then they'd have offered what we offered RVP.
I mean, Nani's on more than 90k IIRC. |

Yeah, that was pretty much my original point. I don't think he is worth that amount but Arsenal had little choice really, seeing someone like Walcott who is nothing like Fabregas or RVP class leave would just an awful symbolic step.

Yeah, with Pothas completely on this one. Walcott not worth that much of a wage, but Arsenal had little choice but to shell out. If he had been allowed to get away then it would have been absolutely disasterous for the image of the club, and for the morale of the rest of the squad.
Besides, it's not the worst way to spend the wage budget by a long way. At least Theo is actually pretty good. I'd rather the money was spent on someone like him rather than Bendtner, Squillaci, Denilson and Arshavin, who are all still raking in ridiculous pay. |

Quite some finish to this tin-pot match, glad I turned over after Stargazing now.
