*Official* Whinge about a pitch thread

It's been a while since I've created a new thread but I thought we needed a place of community discussion (whinging & complaining) following the roll out of a super **** wicket. We can also allow the discussion of grounds in general too

While the Adelaide Oval has busily been reinventing itself as the premier ground for cricket in Australia, the MCG has been steadily producing piles of bird poo with the Gabba not far behind. There seems to be a circulation of groundskeepers between the major venues so why can't Australia hunt someone down from SA? Are there solutions?

Nope. Doing anything drastic would be doctoring the pitches. Just let them be in their natural state as they were first chanced upon. Send out explorers to search for other perfectly rectangular dirt patches that they may be able to build stadiums around.

It's ridiculous that a pitch like Melbourne gets no sanction yet as soon as a pitch even hints at taking spin then the ICC fall over themselves to label it poor.

The MCG curator of the past few years is now the Gabba curator (he was previously curator of Allan Border Field), and the current WACA curator is moving over to the MCG. Hopefully the changes might bring something different for those venues.

Curators of flat, uninteresting pitches replacing curators of flat, uninteresting pitches? No change likely.

Only problem is that all the grounds in Australia are now AFL grounds where cricket is played in summer.

I'm sure theres a way to make drop ins sporting wickets, they just haven't figured it out yet or don't want to.

Adelaide is a pretty good wicket the last few years, mostly because it's grassy.

You know what they say, speak ill of the retired.

Annoyed this type of slanderous posting is permitted, curators deserve more respect.

Think it is the latter, more interested in pitch lasting for 5 days no matter what.

It's such a strange notion to hold on to.

Surely the bean counters can realise that exciting pitches get much more attention which would there offset the potential lost time?

Mitchell Jnr did a good job most of the time.

Didn't realise that the MCG bloke was from Allan Border Field - no wonder it was a slab of concrete.
