*Official* Whinge about a pitch thread

It was only really MCG wasn't it though? The rest of the pitches were ok. Perth a bit flatter than you'd like. Brisbane not as quick and bouncy. Sydney didn't break up as much as you'd like (all out for 180 in 3rd innings though).
They were all crap bar Adelaide.

Perth gets a slight pass over the rest of them because at least Perth allowed the batsmen to score quickly.

Root struck at 49 this series, Warner at 52. I'd expect strike rates that bad in a ball dominated series but when you look at how slowly the bowlers took wickets (3 five wicket hauls across 5 Tests) then it's clear there was pretty much nothing in it for them either.

All 5 Tests went to a 5th day despite England getting absolutely paddled in 4 of them. That shouldn't happen on sporting wickets.

The administrators might be happy with that but that's how you turn off viewers. Look how quiet the tour threads were this time around - nobody was interested in the cricket. How many great moments or passages of play were there in the series that we'll be talking about in 5 years time?

I don't mind slow scoring cricket but if it is slow scoring it has to be challenging (ftr the same goes for faster scoring as well. Hate pitches like Perth 2015). These concrete-like wickets with no sideways movement make for the worst viewing experience possible. Only on the last day at Perth and a bit under lights at Adelaide was it even remotely challenging for a batsman who could reasonably face the attack to defend (i.e. not England's batsmen, a lot of the time).

Nah ours are supposed to be near the top quality, brand new ones made just for HK club cricket. Pretty sure they're giving us rejected ones anyways. Don't get how you can pay so much for such mediocre balls.
Lol get them to switch to SG Test. They're much, much cheaper ($20ish a pop) and only stop swinging if they get smacked around for a fair bit. Seam is nice and pronounced as well.

The question is, will anything change? Doubt it since all the test matches achieved their mission - Lasting to the 5th day

As much as I dislike the idea of 4 day Tests you have to wonder if it could be beneficial for Australia given how obsessed CA are in making Tests go the distance.

But it could easily be changed by D/N Tests becoming the norm...

Heard a few people say that the whole five day thing is a bit of a myth, as the advertising amounts they receive are guaranteed no matter how long the test runs for, and they lose money on the last day due to lower attendances while most of the overheads are still there.
