Guys help filling this..

After updating Garner and Murali

230-92=138 remaining
27.6 average

01.Jayasuriya 32
02.Gilly (wk) 36
03.
04.

06.
07.
08.Garner 9
09.Muralitharan 7
10.Donald 4
11.McGrath 4
#7 could be a 5th ATG bowler to give more room for better batsmen. Maybe a Gillespie type who has a low average but can dead bat if necessary.

What about Waqar with an average of 10. That leaves 128.

Steve Waugh is almost an auto pick at 5 for his captaincy, ability to bat with the tail and impressively low average of 33.

That leaves 95. We need a 3, 4 and 6.

Let's bring in Border at 6 (31) leaving us with 64.

If we pick Afridi at 6 (24) and shuffle everyone down one, we have 40 runs left for our number 3.

This gives us a choice between Lara and G Chappell. I'll take Lara if only because we already have 3 Aussie bats.

Giving us:

Jayasuria (32)
Gilchrist (36) (w/k)
Lara (40)
S Waugh (32) (c)
Border (31)
Afridi (24)
Waqar (10)
Garner (9)
Murali (7)
Donald (4)
McGrath (4)

=229

Actually, we could probably swap Gilly and Lara for McCullum and Richards.

Jayasuria (32)
McCullum (30) (w/k)
Richards (47)
S Waugh (32) (c)
Border (31)
Afridi (24)
Waqar (10)
Garner (9)
Murali (7)
Donald (4)
McGrath (4)

=230

Actually that second team doesn't work because I made a 1 run error on Waugh's average.

It's possible if we drop Waqar for Walsh but the drop in bowling quality is too much. Maybe we drop Waugh for Fleming who averages half a run less. Give the captaincy to Border.

Jayasuria (32)
McCullum (30) (w/k)
Richards (47)
Fleming (32)
Border (31) (c)
Afridi (24)
Waqar (10)
Garner (9)
Murali (7)
Donald (4)
McGrath (4)

=230

I'd throw Vettori (17) in at 7 personally. I think he's good enough to bat there and he's a very good ODI player anyway IMO.

+1 for Botham at 6.

Not sure if he has the striking ability tbh.Talking about Vettori here

Mind you the bowlers don't have enough firepower in their bats.

Brilliant team IMO. I'd have McMillan ahead of Anderson personally. They have the same average so it'll be a direct swap there.

Maybe Kapil Dev instead of Botham?

Edit - huh, didn't read that very carefully did I. But maybe Afridi for Botham?

Wasn't Botham the better bat?

If so Afridi over Dev makes more sense.

We need to ideally pick the 2 better bats, out of these 3 in Afridi,Dev and Botham

Dev is the best bat among those 3 in LOIs, his SR was ridiculous for his era and average was okay-ish for that time.
