Date-Specific ODI Draft

With each player pick you need to also pick a specific date, when you think the player was at his very peak. There will be no voting. The team strength will be decided based on my ranking system.

As you can see the date-specific ratings are not public information. All you know is the current ratiing and career ranking as of 23-Nov-2017. For example, you know MS Dhoni's batting rating on 23-Nov-17 was 7.7; but don't know what Kiran More's batting rating was on 31-Mar-92.

The final strength of the side will be decided based on the following formula with date-specific ratings:
Sum of the batting ratings of top 9 batsmen + 0.4*batting rating of no. 10 + 0.2*batting rating of no. 11 + sum of the 5 best bowling ratings

Rules:
1. You have to pick at least one player who has played at least one ODI as wicketkeeper
2.The same date will apply for batting and bowling rating. So, if you are picking Elton Chigumbura for 01-Jan-2017 then both batting and bowling ratings will be based on that date.
3. The date format to be used is dd-mmm-yy (e.g. 01-Feb-17). If you use dates like 01/02/17 I'll just assume it's the 1st Feb and not the 2nd Jan.
4. You can pick any date between 5-Jan-71 and 13-Dec-17.

I'm expecting 11 participants. There won't be any randomized order. The first round will be first-come-first-serve basis. So, you can pick a player and a date for your first round pick as soon as you type 'in'. [Hope that will save time.] Timeline per pick is 8 hours. We'll incorporate the following order for picks in different rounds. Hope that will keep it fair.

That's certainly one of the reasons I've been holding back. Another reason is that I wanted to be 6th.

But since we've decided to go with less numbers, that means the draft order changes so I'll take Virat Kohli (04.09.2017). DD.MM.YYYY format of course.

Good to see Himanv and OS joining. So far, all the picks have been top-notch. I'd like to add one small tip if I may:
Most of the players with high career rating were consistent performers for a long time. It's not necessary that all of them had the best peaks as well. So, use your excellent subjective judgement rather than trying to second-guess the ratings.

It works both ways. If I reveal as we go then that'll help everyone to strategise better. [Also since I have already started publishing then to be fair to everyone I should probably continue - or at least do it for everyone in round 1]
