Well I was not going to say anything about that partnership when it was going but bloody hell has that saved the day. Sounds like a soft dismissal though, still an awful lot of work to do here.

Mddx 8 down. Chapple strikes again. No idea why England never picked him.
They did - but if he couldn't manage a wicket against Ireland it's hard to see how he would have coped against stronger opponents.

And is it not summer anymore? Sun's been shining here. Cut the grass earlier and had a couple of refreshing tipples in the garden afterwards.

Never quite had the career I thought he should but has come good on the big occasion so many times over the years, love the guy.

Essex 198-3 at stumps - Browne has had a very good season and Foster got a ton in the last game of course, so expect them to make plenty more. With the forecast good, it's hard to see how Worcs can escape. Extraordinary capitulation from a team that was chasing the D2 title going into this game.

At least you got your 350 - just. You can see why Sky picked the game they did, but in terms of runs and wickets it was the most boring of the lot today. Hopefully the sun will come out tomorrow and enable some more fluent cricket. By this time tomorrow we should have a pretty good idea who's going up and who's coming down.

Oh dear ... Leicester. 29-4 needing 140 to save the follow-on, what are the chances? I guess they can't wait for the season to end.

Looks like they had a delayed start at Chelmsford, only had three overs there. Hants take an early wicket.

First wicket for Brett D'Oliveira, but Essex have two of the three points they need.

Rudolph and Cooke gone at Cardiff.

Essex past 300 now, so, assuming they finish the job against Worcs, Hants need to win to go up. Glamorgan looking likely to save the follow-on though at 134-5.

Lancashire solid but still a long way short of 350. Going at under three an over, they could do with upping the tempo really.

Trescothick past 1000 for the season, a good couple of years left in him yet you'd think.

Leics somehow still batting but they looked doomed to finish winless.

Yes, it's been a real recovery this year for him, was worrying about him after a couple of indifferent seasons.

Leics save the follow on and are all out next ball. Charlie Shreck having the season of his life with the bat though - 328 runs at 20 makes for a pretty good number 11. Come to think of it he's outperformed most of the top order.

Seventh wicket goes down at Cardiff.

Hampshire not enforcing the follow-on, they must have confidence in the weather. Having seen the Essex score they must know that they need to win now.

Well, quite. You'd think they'd back the lower middle order to get another 50 - 350 still seems a long way off though, and they'd need to go at more than four an over from now.
