As usual we would start with the openers. Kindly choose two of the following or any of your own choosing.

    Marvan Atapattu
    Sanath Jayasuriya
    Roshan Mahanama
    Tillakaratne Dilshan
    Sidath Wettimuny

Atapattu and Jayasuriya. Both also odds-on finalists in Battle of the Sexiest Cricketers.

    Marvan Atapattu
    Sanath Jayasuriya

Don't think Dilshan has had enough longevity as an opener.

Assuming Sanga takes the no 3 slot, I'd go for Gurusinha to partner Jaya even though he didn't open that often.

Will probably rate Dilshan higher than Atapattu by the time he retires, but its probably too soon for him to be picked in an AT XI as opener

As ever, the nature of the rest of the side might be important. If the bowling attack will be two spinners and two seamers - I'd guess Vaas-Herath-Malinga-Murali is likely - then Gurusinhha would be a good pick. (Almost) as good a bat as Attapattu / Dilshan, and handy seam-up bowler. If folk go for three seamers and one spinner with de Silva/Jayasuriya/Dilshan to pick up the second spinner duties then Attapattu is probably a better pure batting option...

    From the list provided, Jayasuriya-Attapattu.

    But really Jayasuriya-Gurusinha.

    The XI will look like

Dilshan, Jayasuriya, Sanga, de Silva, Samaraweera, MJ*, PJ+, Ravi Ratnayake, Vaas, Rumesh Ratnayake, Murali.

Malinga, Somachandra de Silva, Brendon Kuruppu and Herath will be worthy reserves.
