As the ball is spherical, doesn't only 1 infinitely small part of it initially touch the pad, making a nonsense of all this "half the ball inside the line" palaver? I'm not good at maths or physics or whatever btw.
Half the ball being inside the line isn't the same thing as half the ball touching the pad.

Doull is saying that because a fraction of the ball hit in the line (not even half the ball) then you can be out.

Is that really the rule? When I umpire in club games unless it is clearly in line I give the batsman the benefit.
It's about giving the on-field umpire benefit of the doubt instead.

But there's only one tiny part of the ball touching the pad at all....it's either inline or it ain't (for practical purposes you'd go off the middle of the ball, right?)

If a wicket falls Guptil has to man up and bat. Even if it means his leg falls off and his career ends. No one will care. Just do it.

True. But that point of impact is bound to be at the "center" of the far side of the ball, assuming the pad is facing down the wicket. So where half the ball is is going to be the same thing as where the point of impact is.

46 off 30 basically needs to be done by McCullum if we're to win this

England definitely favourites as we're so reliant on McCullum here

Top grab.

Cook's erred with these bowling changes. Woakes and Anerson should've bowled out by now.
Thing is, he could've bowled both of them out by now, but he's ramped the pressure up with the last couple of overs. First a tight one from Finn, now a tight one from Broad which has grabbed a wicket. I guess he's hoping to seal the game with Finn and Broad now.

Top take.

Given that getting McCullum back on strike is key rather than actual batting at these point there's no way you should send in a crocked batsman.
