The Inaugural CW "Worst Dismissal Ever" Competition

Evil Scotsman
Ramprakash vs Warne, 2001, 3rd test, jumped a mile out of is crease, hilarious stumping.
The Giles dismissal of Warne was funnier because it literally came after the commentators saying how much spinners hated getting out to other spinners.

It was a nice bit of bowling from Harmy, but if Clarke's playing straight he's not yorked. & match situation, last ball of day, etc, etc...

Any road tho, it seems iniquitous to me that a lot of posters have jumped on Tait's dismissal at Trent Bridge (a #11, after all) and a proper batsman gets a free pass.
Minor point, but it was only the last ball of the day because Clarke got out.

Definite candidate from a New Zealand perspective comes from this match:

3rd Test: South Africa v New Zealand at Cape Town, Jan 2-6, 1995 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo

Shane Thompson, with New Zealand batting to save the match, played an immaculate forward defensive shot to the bowling of Clive Eksteen. He was so pleased with it that he decided to hold the pose for about 10 seconds. Unfortunately, he didn't realise that in stretching forward to play the shot, his back leg had slipped out of his crease. While still holding that technically perfect forward defensive pose, the silly mid-on fielder calmly picked up the ball and underarmed it into the stumps, running Thompson out.

Nah, I admire good pedantry. Kudos.

Ok, another from the Greatest Ever Series™: Mick Vaughan on 166 smashing a dolly of a full bunger from the Katman to a one-legged Glenn McGrath at long on in the 3rd test at OT. Could've literally hit in anywhere.

brendon mccullum batting for stumps, just then, smashes a herath pie down the fielders throat

If he'd got out to the previous ball I'd have paid it. That was hitting the top of middle and he's pumping it over mid wicket in the lead-up to stumps. Just shows that no matter how much he claims he wants to be a great Test batsman, he doesn't.

Ha, that Thomson video is classic. What a fool. In the years following he's hit the bottle very hard and is now a rotund fella with a veiny wine nose.

I think we can probably remove guys who are tailenders from the running barring a situation where they needed to see off three balls to draw the Test and came out of the crease to hit a six or something.
