I know it's partly the pitch, but does anyone else find it telling that a match featuring no fewer than 4 current test match batsmen and a couple of fringe players is looking likely to be finished by the end of day 2?
Kane is behaving exactly like Bieber itbt. That 102* Basin innings gave him a taste of idolatry with tribute videos popping up and whatnot and he began to really resent the pedestal, so now he's been going out of his way to grope for those tatas and pursue a more fallen image. He'll spend the whole summer excelling in the shorter formats just to stick it up the purists in fact, with their beseechings he's too gifted and special to last five minutes on McCullum's side of the tracks.

Guessing Ryder is injured or unwell as he is now coming in at 7?

That game at Hagley Park sounds like the kind of pitch that featured when India toured here 10 years ago, a real goat track. Sodhi didn't get a bowl in either innings.

Probably, he did bowl 14 overs in Auckland's first innings. Ronchi started quite slowly, but he must have gone crazy at some point. Would be nice to see him get another century.

Marto getting spanked at the Basin, which is usually his happiest hunting ground. Shouldn't be near the squad for the test series in his current form. It's high time he called it a day.

How's about an MS Paint style challenge. Draw how you imagine Jesse Ryder's latest dismissal played out in real-time.

That's four centuries in his last eight innings from Ronchi now. He almost had five, but was dismissed for 95.
