Anyone but Bopara for number 6 basically. Only the Cricinfo ****wits want him in the Test side. Most people on here wouldn't have had him anywhere near the side in the first place, so it's no surprise they still don't want him in the side after two more ****house innings.
Taylor and Stokes have been rubbish this season in the 4 day stuff, so that really leaves Compton as the standout option - although how you'd fit him in I don't know because he's not really a number 6.

I actually think Tres's FC average was hovering around 30 and maybe slightly below when he got the nod.
Can add Colly to the list too. Don't think Fred's FC record was very flash either, although one could argue he was maybe called up too early.

I see, thought you meant these selectors.
Can't really argue with results there, although I never much rated Vaughan. The good batsmen in the current side are just players that were tearing up the county circuit (Trott, KP) or guys they decided to stick with through a few early lean spells (Cook, Bell).

Wow. Seriously just because you didn't want him in the side to start with doesn't make it good policy to drop him after (in the last 2.5 years) 44, 7*, (11 month gap), 0 , 22.

Reckon Bopara deserves another test seeing as though they're not going to play Compton.

yep, which makes it all the more baffling, that they seem to have an aversion for run-scorers at 6. Bairstow had done really well, but it was just for a short amount of time.

As I said the horrible mistake was in picking him in the first place. Is there anyone on here who wasn't expecting the ****e he conjured up with the bat? I doubt it. Same old bunny in headlights combined with lazy shots. It's not nearly good enough. ODIs are a completely different format where completely useless Test batsmen are made to look like world beaters. He has been atrocious in T20, atrocious in proper Test cricket and sub-average in ODIs.

I think number 6 is often seen as the slot for a batsman who bowls a little, rather than a specialist. Bopara wasn't picked for his bowling but with four bowlers you need other options, ideally a bit better than Trott.

It's not fair, but it's all about results isn't it? If we lose it has to be a fairly humiliating loss on a pudding of a pitch, and so changes are needed. You could say it was knee-jerk, but we were disappointing in the UAE, and not really good against the Lankans or Windies.
Personally would replace Bopara, Bresnan, Swann for Patel, Finn and Onions. Only go for Samit because we may need a spin option, Swann just getting no rip ATM, so don't see the point of him at Leeds.
