Does he have a different definition of "talent" from the rest of the world?“He’s probably more talented than KP. Kevin finds it so easy to play, he’s so naturally gifted with the shots he’s got, and Cookie’s not got that. He relies on the shots he has got and he relies on his mental toughness to get him through and he’s shown how *talented he is this trip.”
Pretty poor from the star - shock horror I know - but all Jimmy said was that Cook makes better use of what he's got. Bit of a nothing story.
As I said in the Colly tribute thread, don't confuse "talent" with "style". Succeeding despite having relatively poor strokeplay is a talent. That will certainly help dressing room bonding.
Seriously, this makes no sense..

Cook was basically Anderson's batting coach for quite a while (I think they called him a batting "buddy"), so there's probably some playful ribbing there. That will certainly help dressing room bonding.
You can really tell they were buddied when he comes out to night-watch too; they have remarkably similar techniques.Jimmy's best form with the bat came when he was buddied with Cook tbh
True. That will certainly help dressing room bonding.

Talent means the skill that someone has quite naturally to do something that is hard. Someone who has talent is able to do something without trying hard. It is an ability that someone is born with.As I said in the Colly tribute thread, don't confuse "talent" with "style". Succeeding despite having relatively poor strokeplay is a talent.
Tbf you said it on here tooSaid this to PF when he debuted.
Isn't that the mental strength and application that he alludes to? Working around your limitations is certainly an attribute that any batsman, hell, any successful sportsman needs to get to the top. Some just have fewer limitations than others. As I said in the Colly tribute thread, don't confuse "talent" with "style". Succeeding despite having relatively poor strokeplay is a talent.
Wonder what KP thinks of it though...Cook was basically Anderson's batting coach for quite a while (I think they called him a batting "buddy"), so there's probably some playful ribbing there.
The point I was making was that KP probably doesn't take it seriously at all, because Jimmy probably spruiks Cook light-heartedly all the time amongst the batting group.Wonder what KP thinks of it though...
