That's why I went for him. He is a decent number 7 if the other player selected is an awesome bat.

I thought about Imran actually and probably would have voted for him except that I think Pollock is a better option in this format.

Symonds and Pollock. Thought about Kallis for a bit, his MOTM stats are incredible, but he just doesn't feel right in an all-time ODI XI.

I really do like Pollock and think he'd make a fine 12th man for this side, but after having seen Hayden treat him with utter distain in the previous WC when he was rated the #1 ODI bowler in the world has left me with enough of a taste in my mouth that I'd rather see Klusener and Symonds in the middle and just leave out Pollock at this time from the starting XI.

He is a fantastic bowler and a top shelf alrounder, but I just like the other two options more for this team.

Yeah I am wondering this as well. He would be a better choice than Pollock IMO (despite the minor statistical difference).

Lara and Imran.

Imran gives us a bowling attack of 5 all-time greats. You don't need another all-rounder on top of that. I can't see why you wouldn't want to give them all their full allocation of overs. Who needs to give Symonds or Klusener a bowl if he's going to be stealing overs from an all-time great specialist bowler? And if you really did need to cobble some extra overs together, you could easily get 5 or 10 from a combination of Tendulkar, Richards, Bevan and Ponting.

So, for me the final spot must go to a batsman, and to my mind if Klusener or Symonds are to make the team they need to get in as specialists. They each have a strong case, but Lara has that extra quality.

The only weakness in that team is the tail, but that's a decision that's already been taken. Personally given the balance of the team I'd have preferred Hadlee or Pollock to McGrath just for the extra depth it gives to the batting.

Lara comes in as another batsman at #5 (being a leftie helps too) and Kapil takes the specialist all-rounders slot at #7. His all around batting and bowling talent really fills the side out and he was a lusty hitter and would go well in the lower middle order. I think Imran somewhat over-rated in ODI cricket.

I'm shocked at Imran's lack of support. I thought he would be one of the frontrunners for the all-rounder spot. He's an all-time great with the ball and was a very good batsman (heck, he even batted as high as 3 for Pakistan).

He actually emerges in a lot of polls, though I don't think I've ever seen him make a post!

Bats far too slow for a #7 in any team, let alone an all time side. Kapil the far better option.
