3rd Test at Headingley, Leeds

For sure. Losing Anderson was a blessing coz I'm not sure Archer gets a gig otherwise this test, Woakes is the Lords specialist and Broad is part of the furniture at this point
After his relatively moderate performance this Lord's Test thank goodness we don't have to hear from the English cricket media again about how astounding his record at the ground is.

I thought Woakes was excellent and is being bafflingly underbowled by Root basically all series. 3 overs in the second innings was as strange as him not being brought into the attack for an entire session in the first test. Maybe he's carrying a niggle but it's still dumb.

Surprised at the general consensus that Siddle should be the one to make way for Starc, and that's speaking as someone who didn't think he should be considered for the squad in the first place.

Had at least 3 chances missed off his bowling and still took as many wickets as Hazlewood did. I reckon Lord's it was the same issues that we've seen from Hazlewood for 18 months; after a great start he became increasingly bland and was barely a threat in the 2nd innings (and less so than Siddle imo).

Anyone who actually watched the game would not advocate for sitting Siddle out.

Siddle sits out for Pattinson not Starc

Why? Do you think Australian doctors will send a sick man out to a possible death because it might increase their chances of winning the series?
Plenty of doctors associated with sports sides have made decisions that independent doctors wouldn’t.

I’m not suggesting it is probable that their judgement will be impaired/influenced, I’m suggesting it is possible. Independent doctors mitigate that to the lowest possible level.

Siddle consistently looks about the most likely of the Aussie quicks once the lacquer wears off

I know he's feeling his way back and I rate him generally, but Pattinson didn't really pull up too many trees in the first test, did he?

Two wickets, Roy and Denly and, well, y'know, not exactly Hutton and Compton, are they?

Headingley is probably the track most likely to suit Siddle too.

I was at Headingley in 09 for day one when oz bowled us out for 102. I seem to remember being absolutely amazed watching Siddle that day

Obviously that was a decade ago, but

Headingly looks like being cloudy pretty much the whole Test too.

Siddle/Anderson could easily run through a side in those conditions.

I watched the replay of of the Anderson panesar draw and siddle was steaming in bowling 90mph. Looked so angry I enjoy watching him bowl. A decent bloke too by all accounts

I was there that day too. It sucked. We all booed Ponting too and the Aussies had a cry, how times have changed.

Then he went out and made nearly as many in an hour as your whole side had the same morning. Happy days.

It's noteworthy that all the people saying how good Siddle is are Poms. Draw your own conclusions.

I never said how good he is. I mean he wasn't able to get Anderson or monty out in 11 overs. I just like his attitude and seems like a likeable fella unlike the majority of his current and former team mates

Got applauded off mind. Rightly so too. Don't care that it was only a 70-odd (or whatever it was - less than a ton anyway) - by far and away the best batting I've ever seen live.

Easily explained. They've fooled themselves into thinking cloud reliant medium pacers make great bowlers.
