*Official* Second Test at the Adelaide Oval

pskov

International 12th Man
Well, the rest of the lineup should be pretty rested....

What do you guys reckon would be a good result for England in this innings?

400-450?
From this position anything less than 400 would be dire. I would be looking at 500+ by the end of tomorrow giving yourself a chance of an innings win.

Trouble is for the plan to work you need the bloke to implement it not to be a totally useless clown. Could be fun to watch before tea, runrate won't slow down anyway.

Seriously I'm temped to say Clarke > Doherty. Clarke, once upon a time, was a good flighter of the ball.

it's crazy that KP has allowed himself to get into this position, not that he gets out to las but that he lets it get to him.

This is the same player who smashed warne and murali with contempt?

It's also a farce that Doherty has been picked for this purpose, and that this is even a 'battle'.

All of KP's doing.

My God Doherty is village.
I think the worst thing is that he's not even even bits-and-pieces. Okay, he's a pretty average spinner, but so are all of Australia's options. He's a number nine bat though and he doesn't have great hands - he's been picked as a specialist bowler and I'm telling you now that he wouldn't get anywhere near Bangladesh or Zimbabwe's Test teams. He's just not contributing at all. Get O'Keefe in - even if he averages 80 with the ball like Doherty (which I doubt he would - honestly he's a much better bowler) he'll take catches at gully and score runs.

It was just such a bizzare selection. O'Keefe has achieved just as much as Doherty with the ball and is a far superior bat and fieldsman. If they wanted a SLA to get Pietersen out... surely you'd go for the SLA that got Pietersen out?

can't help but feel the aussies are getting carried away with this pietersen weakness.

Surely the best option early on is the same to Punter or any other batsmen; get it in a good area early on.

They'd have been as well giving Smith the series for experience.
