Watson in hospital

Shane Watson has been hospitalised with stomach and chest pains as a stomach bug strikes the Australian squad.

He was rushed to a hospital in Chandrigarh in the early hours of this morning. A spokesman for the team said: “The initial test and ultrasounds are fine, We are just waiting on the blood test and other results.”

Australian coach John Buchanan is now hopeful of Watson playing against India on Sunday, saying to AAP: “As far as I know at the moment, he is in hospital and they are just doing all the tests, They have diagnosed gastritis so that should pass within 24 or 48 hours.” Other members of the squad have also missed training today with upset stomachs.
