Warne and Murali bury hatchet

Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan have rowed back on comments both have made in recent days, and insisted there is no bad blood between them.

Warne had written in his column in News Ltd that bowlers’ actions should be tested in match conditions, rather than in the laboratory. Murali had responded angrily.

“I am very disappointed with what he said,” he told the Sydney Morning Herald. “He can’t keep his mouth shut because he wants to keep making these comments. He must be a miserable man in his life. But that is his opinion and there is nothing I can do about it.” He added that he would not speak to the Australian upon the launch of the trophy which bears the name of the two great spin-bowlers.

Now, however, he has blamed a miscommunication for the fall-out: “We talked to each other and we patched up, it was a miscommunication more than anything.”

Warne added: “I have got no issue with Murali or his action or anything like that. All I said in my column that I wrote was that common sense should prevail in that if anybody has an issue with an action – and I am not saying Murali, but anybody in world cricket – then they should be tested in match conditions.”

Warne also said it was an honour for him to have a trophy bearing his name alongside Murali’s.
