Vaughan making progress

Michael Vaughan faced 187 balls with no ill effects from his knee injury today, in scoring 99 for Yorkshire in their current first-class fixture against Middlesex. The England skipper hit 12 fours in his knock, which came with his side having been reduced to 4-2 at one point.

He eventually fell to the off-spin of England A player Jamie Dalrymple, having looked set to secure his first century since making his return from injury recently.

There is speculation he might make an international return for the final couple of one-day internationals against Sri Lanka – Duncan Fletcher has claimed he will not be fit for the whole series, but may be given a workout towards the end. England’s squad for the series is due to be named at 1510 BST tomorrow.
