Streak reconciles with Zimbabwe

Former Zimbabwean captain Heath Streak has ended a 10-month strike by signing a contract with the national board, and could return to action as soon as this week itself.

Streak was sacked last April, after he expressed displeasure towards the way Zimbabwean cricket was being administered. Following his removal, 13 other players joined the rebellion, discontinuing their contracts to pursue the sport elsewhere.

Streak has been immediately brought into the fold, as he has already left for South Africa to participate in the Test series there, and very likely tomorrow’s (Wednesday) ODI as well.

Streak is the fourth rebel to rejoin the Zimbabwean team, after Gavin Ewing, Barney Rogers and Andy Blignaut resigned their protest a few weeks back.

However, other senior players such as Grant Flower and Ray Price have said that they do not yet want to return.
