South Africa threaten boycott

South Africa have threatened to boycott Australia in future, after several of their players were subject to racial abuse during their recent series.

Gerald Majola, CEO of the South African board, said to a South African paper: “It is very serious and if it continues, yes, we would look very seriously about whether we return here for another series. It is not right when a country has a history like ours. It is something that we never thought we would hear about,t he sad thing is, it has continued around Australia. It hasn’t just been limited to one state or one city”

The worst incident was at Perth, and it also occured in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. Sri Lanka have also found themselves victims of racial touring during the current VB Series.

Cricket Australia are taking the matter very seriously, and do maintain a no-tolerance stance on racism, with a spectator being removed from the ground at Brisbane after launching a verbal attack on Shaun Pollock.
