South Africa ODI rained off

India’s our of South Africa got off to a disappointing start, after the first ODI at Johannesburg was called off without a ball being bowled, due to persistent rain and a damp outfield. The deluge persisted well into the evening, before finally halting around 7 pm. By that stage, despite efforts to prepare the ground for a shortened match, there was little chance a game would be held.

Given the rushed schedule, there will be no reserve days, and the one day series between the two teams has now been shortened to 4 games. The next match is scheduled in Durban on November 22, whoever the forecast again threatens to spoil the start of the South African cricketing summer.
