Reinforcements Summoned

England will send for further back up from the England A squad in the Caribbean after Marcus Trescothick returned home for personal reasons yesterday.

The battle for the spot will come between Owais Shah, Vikram Solanki or Ed Joyce.

The Middlesex duo of Shah and Joyce were in prolific form in the domestic scene last summer scoring over 1,650 runs apiece and at an average in excess of 60.

Solanki meanwhile has stood up and performed well on the A tour so far and being a regular member of the One-Day party could prove beneficial to his case.

A decision on the replacement will come very shortly, but due to the travel requirements of returning to the UK and obtaining a visa before flying onto India will mean that whoever the selectors decide on will not arrive until the Tuesday night Indian time, all but ruling them out for the 1st Test starting on Wednesday.

Meanwhile the England set up have stated that should Michael Vaughan not be fit in time for the 1st Test and with the vice-captain back in England Andrew Flintoff will lead the team.

The current injury list for England as it stands, Michael Vaughan (knee), Kevin Pietersen and Paul Collingwood (both back), and Simon Jones (stomach bug).
