Pathan fit for World Cup

Indian bowler Irfan Pathan has been cleared to play in the World Cup after proving his fitness in a domestic game.

He played for West Zone against Central Zone, in the Indian Deodhar Trophy, the country’s premier one-day tournament. He has proved his recovery from a sole shoulder enough for the selectors to retain him in the squad, as Dilip Vengsarkar, chief Indian selector explained: “There are no alterations in the 15-member World Cup squad; Irfan’s trip to West Indies is on.”

Pathan took 2-48 in the match, which his side won by two wickets.
