New Flintoff injury worry

Andrew Flintoff may not be able to play for England in the second Test due to new problems with his ankle.

When bowling on the last day against Kent in a County Championship match he was suffering discomfort in his left ankle, and bowled just two overs that day. He will see a specialist tomorrow, and a decision regarding his availability for the Old Trafford test will be made.

Flintoff had been gradually increasing his workload and the game against Kent was intended to be the last step to recovery. He has missed the whole one day series against Sri Lanka and the first Test against Pakistan.

The Lancashire all rounder was expected to return to lead England at Old Trafford, and he has already been named as England’s captain for the Ashes. If he is absent, Andrew Strauss will captain again, while England will probably have to go in with a four-man attack again.
