More rain, match a draw

Only 36 overs were possible on the third and final day of Bangladesh’s tour match against Sri Lanka A.

Bangladesh declared at their overnight 245-8, and saw the Sri Lankans rack up 170-4. The openers led off aggressively form the front, Michael Vandort, included in Sri Lanka’s first Test squad, scored a brisk 38. His partner, Mahela Udawatte struck 53 at more than a run a ball.

Four Bangladeshi bowlers took a wicket apiece, as the Sri Lankans cruised before the rains came, and no more play was possible.

The pick of the bowlers was Mohammad Sharif, he was easily the most economical, and took the scalp of Jehan Mubarak. The opening pair of Syed Rasel and Shahadat Hossain were both expensive and unthreatening. The lack of play in this match means Bangladesh will go into the match short of match practice, and having missed out on an opportunity to determine several spots in the line up.
