McGrath up to his Usual Tricks!

You know the Ashes are round the corner when Glenn McGrath starts talking about who will be out and when! McGrath has now named his bunnies ahead of the much anticipated series.

Last year he named Michael Vaughan as his key target, as well as predicting a whitewash for the Aussies; this time around he has resisted the temptation to mention any scores, but insists that Strauss and Cook will be his “bunnies” in the upcoming series.

“There’s the young fellow Alastair Cook who has done well so far. He’s one of many, these days there’s no use naming one, you name two or three. Strauss has captained them lately, you always target the captain.”

McGrath may face competition from Shane Warne for the bunnying of Strauss, whom the spinner referred to as Darryl throughout last summer’s series, but McGrath insists he is in peak condition, and that he will be as good as ever for the Ashes. He is expected to make his comeback either in the Champions’ trophy, or for New South Wales in the Pura Cup.

“It will take a little while to build up, but I’m probably ahead of where I want to be,” McGrath said, speaking to 2KY radio in Sydney.

Whoever McGrath targets, it is good news for Cricket that McGrath will play in what the world expects to be one last Ashes series. It is not, however, great news for England and their hopes of regaining the urn, but things are slowly starting to build up, and we expect more of what Americans like to call “trash talk” in the next few months.
