Kallis and Symonds return

Jacques Kallis and Andrew Symonds will both return from injury in time for the 4th ODI between South Africa and Australia on Friday. Kallis’ long-term elbow injury is healing, and captain Graeme Smith is positive about his chances of playing tomorrow, whereas Symonds has already been confirmed in the Australian lineup.

Both players had missed the first three games of the ODI series, but with South Africa also hoping to welcome back Andre Nel after a foot injury, they will look to press home the 2-1 series advantage they currently hold. “Jacques isn’t feeling any pain; he might quite possibly play tomorrow, or on Sunday” said Smith of his side’s star batsman, whose position in the batting order may change following the good recent form of AB de Villiers and Herschelle Gibbs in the middle order for South Africa.

Symonds, meanwhile, replaces Shane Watson in the Australian lineup for what is a must-win game – this Aussie side does not lose ODI series lightly. Mick Lewis also returns in place of Brad Hogg, which means that Symonds and Michael Clarke will likely share the spin bowling duties.
