Jayasuriya returns to test side

Having recently retired from test cricket, Sanath Jayasuriya is set to reverse that decision and return to the Sri Lankan test team.

He announced his retirement only last month, but may return to the longer form of the game as early as the second Test in the series against England, which begins at Lord’s on Thursday.

Although possibly assisted on the way to retirement by a selection panel keen to experiment with a new top order, it seems the same panel has changed its view on the matter and was keen to see the return of such an experienced and capable player.

Jayasuriya’s return will come as good news to a Sri Lankan side considered heavy underdogs against the current holders of the Ashes.
