India-SL ODI series postponed

A five-ODI series between India and Sri Lanka, in India, originally scheduled to take place after the conclusion of the hosts’ on-going series against Pakistan, has been postponed indefinitely.

A Fixtures Committee, which met today in Mumbai to discuss the details, decided of putting off the series for now, in the wake of the various administration changes taken place in their counter part, Sri Lanka’s cricket board.

Gautam Dasgupta, the joint secretary of the BCCI, said after the meeting, “In view of the inability of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to confirm the itinerary and the recent developments in the SLC administration, the committee felt that the matches should be postponed to a mutually convenient date for both the BCCI and the SLC.”

The fact that May is the month when the weather in India is the hottest, and the most unpleasant, was also considered as a part of the postponement.
