Ind-Pak venues decided

The venues for the Test and ODI series between India and Pakistan have been fixed, as the second Test has been shifted from Ahmedabad to Kolkata.

Pakistan had expressed their unwillingness to play a Test at Ahmedabad, the scene of religious riots back in 2002. They had requested a shift to Mumbai, which the Indian board couldn’t accommodate.

However, both parties have agreed to Kolkata as the venue for the second Test, despite the crowd troubles that resulted during Pakistan’s last tour of India.

Ahmedabad doesn’t completely lose out though, as Pakistan have agreed to play an extra ODI there, thus making the ODI series a six-match clash, rather than a five-match one planned earlier.

With the change of the venue though, and pending minor details, the tour might be delayed by a couple of days, according to the Pakistan board.

As it stands right now, the three Tests will be played at Mohali, Kolkata and Bangalore respectively, while the six ODIs will be contested at Kochi, Vishakapatnam, Kanpur, Jamshedpur, New Delhi and Ahmedabad respectively.
