Hoggard in injury scare

Matthew Hoggard is in doubt for England’s first Test against India tomorrow at Lord’s after being sent to hospital earlier today, suffering back spasms.

The news comes as a huge blow to England who have already lost Steve Harmison for the entire series after he required surgery to fix a hernia problem.

Hoggard felt the discomfort during a net session today and was immediately sent to hospital for MRI scans. Should he be ruled out, he will be replaced in tomorrow’s side with one of James Anderson or Chris Tremlett. Stuart Broad is expected to make his Test debut, replacing the injured Harmison.
