Harmison ruled out for Durham

Fast bowler Steve Harmison will not participate in Durham’s final Championship fixture of the season, as he has been ruled out with injury. Harmison has suffered from several injuries over the course of the summer, and his latest is a back injury which forced him to miss the ODI series against Pakistan.

Doctors advised Harmison to rest out the series, and he was scheduled to return in next week’s Division One clash between Durham and Lancashire. However, the ECB medical staff has ordered that he take more time to recover, having reviewed his fitness status.

According to Chairman of Selectors, David Graveney, Harmison is expected to be fit in time for the Champions Trophy next month. England leave for the tournament in India on October 6.
