Greatbatch to join Bears

Former New Zealand batsman Mark Greatbatch, one of the first to employ the tactics of pinch-hitting in the first 15 overs of a one-day match, is all set to join Warwickshire as the county’s new cricket academy director.

Greatbatch’s international career never proved the worth shown by him when he first started, with a century in his debut Test. He ended his career at averages of 30 and 28 in Tests and ODI respectively.

Bears chief executive Dennis Amiss said, “Mark impressed the interview panel most and we look forward to his input in the development of future players.”
