Andrew Strauss will captain a young England Lions side against India in the lead-up three day tour match, starting this week at Chelmsford.

The side reveals glimpses of England’s future with youth a clear priority, most notably England’s World Cup wicket-keeper Paul Nixon making way for the 24 year old, Australian born, Tim Ambrose.

Owais Shah, Ravi Bopara, Stuart Broad and Chris Tremlett all have further chance to force their way into selector’s minds as do Graham Onions, Joe Denly, Adil Rashid and Tim Bresnan, who will all be eager to make an impression against the Indians.

The three day tour match starts on July 13th with the first match of the three Test series against India starting a week later on July 19th at Lord’s.

England Lions Squad: Andrew Strauss (cpt), Joe Denly, Owais Shah, Jonathan Trott, Ravi Bopara, Tim Ambrose (wk), Adil Rashid, Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad, Chris Tremlett, Graham Onions.
