Dravid ruled out of third Test

Indian captain Rahul Dravid has been ruled out of the third and final Test of the series against Sri Lanka at Ahmedabad, after being hospitalized. Virender Sehwag will step up to lead the side in his place.

Dravid missed the net session yesterday, being down from a viral infection he picked up during the second Test at Delhi. He was suffering from vomiting and diarrhoea all day, following which he was taken to a local hospital at night. Although his condition has improved today, he is still feeling weak, and thus hasn’t been released from medical care.

No reinforcement has been named, which means Mohammad Kaif is likely to replace Dravid in the playing XI.
