Bond doubtful for series opener

Shane Bond is in doubt for tomorrow’s opening match of the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy series after suffering a hamstring injury. Bond, who had missed training the previous day due to a stomach bug, suffered the injury during today’s training session.

Chris Martin has been put on standby and New Zealand will delay the naming of their team for the Auckland game until more is known of Bond’s condition.

Meanwhile, Australia have named their team for the first game, a team that includes debutant Brad Hodge.

Australia: Ricky Ponting (captain), Adam Gilchrist, Simon Katich, Michael Clarke, Brad Hodge, Michael Hussey, Andrew Symonds, Brett Lee, Brad Hogg, Nathan Bracken, Stuart Clark. Supersub: Cameron White.
