Bangladesh In Control

Day 1: Match Report

Bangladesh batsman Javed Omar took his overnight score to 167 and Mohammad Ashraful struck a quick hundred to keep Bangladesh side ahead of the game.

Bangladesh started the day in a strong position and by the end of the day they had extended their authority even further as Javed Omar continued his fine form taking his overnight score of 111* to 167 before falling victim to the Oxford UCCE student Amit Suman.

Mohammad Ashraful, who was Omar’s partner at stumps, started the day in good touch as well and he just about managed to reach his own century before falling just two runs later to Glen Read.

Partnerships then started but none of the lower order batsman could go on to get a sizable score as Northants Monty Panesar ran through the tail to end with impressive figures of 3/48 as Bangladesh were dismissed for a solid 381 in the 110th over.

In reply the students got of to a poor start as good bowling saw them reeling at 82/5, before Luke Parker (46*) steadied the ship with a patient knock of 46* (101), meanwhile his partner Josh Knappett was happy to play his shots as he ended the day 62 not out from 76 deliveries.
