Baisya in for Khaled Mahmud

Tapash Baisya has been drafted into the Bangladesh ODI squad for the third and final match against Sri Lanka, to be contested on Saturday at Chittagong.

The pace bowler comes in as a replacement for Khaled Mahmud, who retired from international cricket after Bangladesh’s defeat in the first match of the series. The series is now 1-1 and Bangladesh has called upon Baisya to potentially assist in an attempt at a rare series victory.

In 51 One Day Internationals, Baisya has taken 56 wickets at an average of 39.71. He is the third highest wicket-taker for Bangladesh in the shortened form of the game, behind only Mohammad Rafique and Mahmud.

Bangladesh ODI squad:
Habibul Bashar (captain), Khaled Mashud (wk), Javed Omar, Mohammad Ashraful, Aftab Ahmed, Rajin Saleh, Alok Kapali, Shahriar Nafees, Mohammad Rafique, Mashrafe Mortaza, Manjural Islam, Nazmul Hossain, Abdur Razzak, Syed Rasel, Tapash Baisya.
