Awards short-list announced

The ICC have announced their awards short list with Australian captain Ricky Ponting heading the list with four nominations. England’s Kevin Pietersen and Pakistan’s Mohammad Yousuf both have two nominations as well.

Ponting has been nominated in the Test player of the Year, One Day player of the Year, Cricketer of the Year and Captain of the Year categories, but may miss the event held a day before the Twenty20 World Cup due to family problems.

Cricketer of the Year nominees: Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Kevin Pietersen, Ricky Ponting, Mohammad Yousuf

Test Player of the Year nominees: Muttiah Muralitharan, Kevin Pietersen, Ricky Ponting, Mohammad Yousuf

ODI Player of the Year nominees: Matthew Hayden, Jacques Kallis, Glenn McGrath, Ricky Ponting

Emerging Player of the Year nominees: Ravi Bopara, Saqibul Hasan, Shaun Tait, Ross Taylor

Associate ODI Player of the Year nominees: Ashish Bagai, Ryan ten Doeschate, Thomas Odoyo, Steve Tikolo

Women’s Cricketer of the Year nominees: Jhulan Goswami, Lisa Sthalekar, Claire Taylor

Umpire of the Year nominees: Mark Benson, Steve Bucknor, Simon Taufel

Captain of the Year nominees: Mahela Jayawardene, Ricky Ponting

Teams nominated for Spirit of Cricket Award: Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, Sri Lanka
