Ashes tickets cancelled

The huge demand for tickets to the upcoming Ashes series is already taking its toll, with 1300 tickets having been cancelled by Cricket Australia, after they were resold on internet auction sites such as eBay.

Cricket Australia’s spokesman Peter Young yesterday confirmed that 1100 of the tickets were cancelled before resale, but that there were as many as “200 plus” still in the public domain after being purchased by fans desperate for a ticket.

Young also stated that the authorities have yet to decide whether to release the details of which tickets have been cancelled – if the decision is made not to release the details, then some fans could turn up to the ground on the day having bought tickets online, and then be turned away. It would be a contentious decision which would affect both home and away fans, and one that will not be taken lightly.
