Interesting to see nearly everyone dislikes Grame Smith.. He didn't make the brightest of starts, but Im amazed at the skills of the 23(!) year old, and admire his intensity now.
Yeah I dont understand that.

Ive always been a Smith fan.

i don't think his confrontation with stephen fleming, who is generally respected in the cricket world, or his comments on australia's sledging after his first series didnt endear him to all that many people

If thats how you like your cricket, fair enough..

Cannot believe I forgot to put Irfan Pathan on my hated list.. Probably the only genuine tosser on there..

^I dont really like the sledging in cricket, especially if its abusive and personal, but its definitely a part of modern day cricket. And that being the case, there is no excuse for b*tching to the media about it.

And i hate Pathan too, would like to shoot him.

I think Smith was right to go to the media if it was abusive and personal. It can be argued that it worked because the Aussies seem to be doing less of it now..

Maybe the reaction would have been different about Smiths bitching if he had 7000 runs in 115 test matches or something

Nope. He'd still have to watch his mouth. Look at Mr. Ponting.

7000 runs in 115 Tests would actually be a pretty poor effort.

Be a good one, this:
For the First-Class game, obviously
Liked:
Graeme Smith
Gary Kirsten
Mark Waugh
Aravinda De Silva
Alec Stewart (wk)
Darren Lehmann
Dwayne Bravo
Dominic Cork
Allan Donald
Angus Fraser (cpt - yes, seriously)
Andre Nel
I most certainly wouldn't have him as twelfth-man, but I would have him as the next squad member: Mushtaq Ahmed
Twelfth-man: only one guy, Jonty Rhodes
Disliked (never anything personal, just those who are rated too highly by the majority):
MH Richardson
ML Hayden
TT Samaraweera
Yousuf Youhana (the biggest benefactor of Bangladesh's Test-status - he averages 204 against them and his average drops by nearly 5 when you get rid of them)
MJ Clarke
SB Styris
RR Sarwan
Harbhajan Singh
IK Pathan
Mohammad Sami
SJ Harmison
In one-dayers:
Liked:
Neil Johnson
Nick Knight
Michael Bevan (cpt - I know he's got no captaincy experience, but I do think the best one-day batsman ever has actually got a rather good understanding of the one-day game)
Roger Twose
Darren Lehmann
Moin Khan (wkt)
Kumara Dharmasena
Anil Kumble
Prosper Utseya
Allan Donald
Geoff Allott
Disliked (I reiterate, never anything personal, just those who are rated too highly by the majority):
ML Hayden
HH Gibbs
DPMD Jayawardene
A Symonds
D Martyn
JDP Oram
IJ Harvey
BB McCullum
B Lee
M Kasprowicz
T Pangyangara
There you go.

Richard you dislike players simpily because they are overated ?

I dont get that.. you should dislike somone because of there personality and style of play not because others rate them more than you think they should be..

It's kind of weird that you base your own judgment's on the judgments (in your opinion poor judgments) of others..

Well I've never really had any reason to dislike cricketers - I've never had any personal axes to grind with them.
Some players are ugly batsmen (Hayden, Samaraweera, for instance) which I don't deny possibly contributes to my feeling that they are overrated.
Some players (Lee, Kasprowicz, Sami) embody some of my most hated cricketing notions (in this case: one-day-cricket is about wickets, not economy) and that's why I'd include them.

How many here dislike players because they don't like the look of 'em? I do. Not a very fair or intelligent POV, but what the heck.

Kaspa has been very economical in ODI's lately..
