Yeah, that's rough. Hartland had the highest score in NZ ODD cricket for 20 years or something....161*. that's gotta count for something

Matthew Bell wasn't a no.3! ?? That team's bull****. I prefer Voltman's

The problem is this team was put together from all the teams submitted, so it was always going to be biased towards (well, not towards, but you get what I mean) more recent players. I prefer my team too. :p

I suspect, as with all the other players, Hartland was selected on the basis of consistently awful performances.

Since there has been worst ever Aussie and NZ ODI teams picked here i thought I'd pick a worst ever England ODI XI. It wasn't easy but here goes:

1.Chris Tavare: The perfect man to exploit those power plays.
2.Vikram Solanki: Brilliant on his day - his day just wasn't very often.
3.Jim "my grandad was Dr Who" Troughton : only in England could a player in brilliant FC form but poor LO form be picked in a ONE-DAY squad...
4.Monty Lynch: According to S Hughes there was a rumour that Mike Gatting (the captain at the time) approved this selection because when a selector said "Lynch" Gatt thought he said "Lunch". Well its as good an explanation as any...
5.Antony Mcgrath: An allrounder all right..he COULDN'T do just about anything...
6.Rikki Clarke : Same as Mcgrath (see above) but at least he still has time to turn into another Freddie. Then again...
7.Ian Gould: Picked in 1983 WSC and WC ahead of the great Bob Taylor because he could bat..and he averaged 12. And Chris Read thinks HE is unlucky..
8.Tim Bresnan: Why, oh why?
9.Saj Mahmood: Beleve it or not there is a magazine previewing the WC that features Mahmood giving a master-class on reverse swing. Er, shouldn't that be a msterclass on bowling crap that goes at 6 an over?
10. Kabir Ali: OK, SA choked against him once, but another 6 an over man.
11.Norman Gifford (CAPTAIN): In 1985 no one good could be bothered to play in an ODI tournament in Sharajah so we appointed the over 40 year-old Gifford as the first specialist ODI captain. Brilliant idea...
12th man: Grahane Swann: IF he turns up on time that is...

I have always felt sorry for Tavare, he was in fact a pretty impressive strokemaker. He had a job to do for England, and did it well. On his day though he could be really good to watch

Indeed, when he played CC, he was a strokemaker that had all the shots, but when he played for England, he was a bore. Nothing wrong with being boring, just as long as you only have one of them in your team.

Can anyone tell me if Graeme Wood and Rick Darling opened the batting together in ODIs for Australia? For sheer comedy, their running between wickets made Inzi look like the embodiment of Dean Jones in his pomp.

For England, did Mark Elham ever play ODIs?
