I mean, there are a bunch of guys with similar/superior Ranji records this season that nobody cares about.
Yeah but none of them are fat ****s with career averages over 80. Are you surprised CW loves him?

It was a bit of a weird post with the scorecard though - "how can someone who scored 125 batting 5 in a domestic FC game not be in the Test squad?" isn't the strongest argument one could make for the guy.

Ranji stats are so annoying. There’s too many weak teams which makes it very difficult to take stats at face value. Shaw’s 340 or whatever while cool is an example of extreme minnow bashing.

That said the point of the post was it was yet another ton to add to a record that really cannot be ignored anymore.

Yes, that's the key point. Right now, Indian team lacks batsmen with temperament to play long innings. I don't even remember when we had the last double. Jadeja's 175 was the last big innings. If we can get someone who can just stay in for long periods and get those huge scores, that'd be great.

Also, while this 125 was against a weak attack, he has scored runs against strong attacks as well. But the bad point is, he is doing it all from 5th position. Has to bat 3 or 4 from the next match onwards.

Indian team does need someone at 5 though. Pujara is the incumbent. Post Pujara, if Rahul/Rohit open, Gill can move to 3. Iyer could also move to 3 while Kohli remains at 4. 6 and 7 obv belong to Pant and Jadeja. So, 5 is the only place he can grab and he is batting right at that position in all domestic matches.
