Although the record is in some sense unfair as players from a lot of countries will never even get a chance to break it, as mentioned.

It will be broken one day; records are made to be broken afterall. That said, I cannot see anyone going past it in the near future.

I highly doubt it, because all of the ODI and T20 games would take toll on any person with a chance at the record.

Seems fairly unlikely given the direction cricket has taken lately but have to say that someone like Cook is in a very good position to break it. Hes played over a third of the number of tests already and hes not even 26. He doesn't have an injury record to speak off, hes a pure batsman and doesnt play t20s and ODIs for England. This puts him in a good position assuming he doesn't get dropped.

Which could still well be a good chance tbh.

There is a chance but honestly hes not going to get any worse as a player and considering they have stuck with him for this long it definitely looks in his favor. Nor are there any particularly useful options in CC going around to replace him with.

Not necessarily in CC, but England would probably just slot Trott to open and recall Morgan if he runs out of form.

Fair point tho.

Doubt we would, considering Morgan isn't all that likely to fare better than Cook and that's without considering the detrimental effect it'd then have on both Trott and Bell's performances.
