AB XI - eligibility requirement of playing at least 1 test match:

1. Alec Bannerman
2. Adam Bacher
3. Adrian Barath
4. Ali Bacher
5. Allan Border (C)
6. AB de Villiers (wk)
7. Andy Blignaut
8. Andy Bichel
9. Alec Bedser
10. Arif Butt
11. Arthur Barrett
This would have been funnier if you left out either Border or de Villiers.

De Villiers is good enough to win the Allan Border medal and become an honorary AB.

But he is not so good that they could institute an award in his name and honor Allan Border with an AB de Villiers medal. This sounds very stupid.

Nah, I have way more respect for the guy who played 150+ tests on the trot, through several debacles and injuries than a guy who ghosted his team when he got stuck in a rut and tried to use his star status to avoid playing matches below him.

This is such a good point. In the country of Bradman, our medal is the AB medal!
Also throws his name into the India v Australia series. The only reason people insist on calling DeVilliers the wrong name is so he is not confused with a Fannie.

You have made 2 spelling mistakes in his surname. Not sure if you could spell his 'first name', but I am pretty much 100% sure you couldnt pronounce it. Its tough even if you speak Afrikaans, cos is a bastardisation of a name that doesnt fit normal speech flows in the language.

Hes been probably the best known cricketer on the planet (who isnt from India) for years now, and you cant manage his first or last name. Why? Cos he is AB.

And there is also the small point that he is the superior cricketer and human being .

How would you know?

By that I mean he gave up and left when things got tough, then thought he'd come back when it suited him.

And by that, I also mean how specifically would you know, because your judgment on these things seems pretty junk tbh.

I liked you better when you were posting pictures of the Cro-Maganon Karen with the pedo mustache at the start of the thread, even though it was completely off-topic, seeing as this is Cricket Chat, not a rock painting forum from 100 000 years ago warning partents not to let their kids out of their caves alone.

Glass houses etc...

If the case for de Villiers being the real AB over Border relies so heavily on someone misspelling his name, safe to say it's practically non-existent.

If the case for Border over the real AB over AB relies on equivocating a typo with an inability to spell the topic at hand, safe to say its practically non-existent.

Call me when you can pronounce Abraham. Which will be never, cos his name is AB. Its not Borders fault that his name is Alan Border. He grew into a great player, almost a worthy placeholder of the title of AB before the actual AB came along. But we did get a true AB.

Fmd Abraham is literally the easiest name in the world to pronounce. If we can teach 3 year old children to sing "father Abraham", I'm sure a fully trained, practising lawyer can manage it. Literally the worst argument in the thread.
