Somehow Donald/Pollock as a pair never registered in my mind. They were both playing together and were in great form together for 4-5 years but no one mentioned them as a deadly duo like that for for other two duos.

Donald/Pollock didn't have as many collective running through a lineup together, usually one of them fired at a time, I think that may tamper people's enthusiasm for them.

Akram > Donald > Ambrose > Waqar ( Top Tier ATGs)
>> Walsh > Pollock

Akram + Waqar = Sachin + Ponting
Donald + Pollock = Lara + Chanderpaul
Ambrose + Walsh = Ponting + Dravid

I'm surprised by the poll results. Donald/Pollock in the late 90s peaked together while Walsh/Ambrose didn't. Ambrose was phenomenal until 96 or so and after that was less penetrative. Walsh was good in the first half of the decade but only became truly great after that.

Donald/Pollock also caused India way more trouble (mainly because we played them more often) so that could be affecting my thoughts here.

Ambrose and Walsh also had Bishop in the first half to help.

I just don't remember Donald and Pollock ripping through a lineup together in the way the other pairs did.

Bit harsh leaving out McGrath and Gillespie who were exceptional as a pair.

As for the deadliest I'd say Ambrose and Walsh with new ball and Wasim and Waqar with the older one.

As per peaks(which is the only way maybe to sort them out), It’s close between Donald/Pollock and Wasim/Waqar. But Donald was in the middle of a peak when Pollock’s peak started, whereas in Waqar and Wasim’s case, their peaks started together and were collectively from 1990-94(tho Wasim bowled little in 1991),and Wasim’s peak extended till 97(though he was at his destructive best from 90-94 also). Perhaps Wasim and Waqar were the best out of the three at the peak, given Waqar’s peak was destructive than any bowlers peak in the 90s or since. So this gives the edge, along with the fact that their peaks started and perfectly coincided for 5 years, with is slightly more the than time that the peaks of Donald/Pollock coincided(1998-2000).
