What to do about tour matches

Borges

If the Indians provide rubbish for the tour matches when England next tours India, you would have every right to complain, protest, demand better etc.

Unlike the Aussie Miyagis who are now moaning very loudly about the quality of opposition they are getting from Pakistan.

Well it isn't so much that England provided rubbish opposition, more England provided good opposition which the Indians spurned, and that it backfired (for India).

I seem to remember it turning into an 18 per side farce also.

Pakistan may not have played a very strong team (but still got bowled out for 208) but the team and conditions they were given were representative of what they were going to face, if anything it was slightly tougher for the batsmen than the flat Brisbane pitch. Perhaps you should look past your Australia-hating and focus on what the issue is, which is teams providing warm up matches in conditions and against XIs nothing like those in the tests, thus rendering the match irrelevant no matter the strength of the home XI or toughness of the match conditions.

Haha.

Let me spell it out for you in language you might understand.

We don't care about the quality of the opposition, we care about the type of opposition.

What's the point warming up against pace when we'll gave a grand total of 40 overs of pace across the entire series?

With Ireland now given test status teams would be stupid to not have a 2 match test series against them as practice before any series against England IMO.

Are the Afghanistan pitches similar enough to those found in the UAE to do the same with Pakistan?

I don't think anyone's going to be playing cricket in Afghanistan just quietly . . . If Afghanistan host it will probably by the same grounds as Pakistan. So yeah it would be very good practice you would think.

McCullum just had a sook because his bowlers were getting belted. It set the tone for the whole tour.
It set the tone for a tour where we lost one badly, could've won the next one with more time then were a ****ing awful decision away from ascendancy in the third?

I just think that's a flippant and incorrect statement. We might've been second best in that series but not by much.

Brendon's not a sook either. There was nothing for us to gain batting on that pitch, so we didn't. I wasn't there, you weren't there - can only go on reports it was breaking up and the new ball was going to become dangerous. It's too easy a target to say it was our softness.

Yeah McCullum was just having a bit of a whinge, far from uncommon. The bloke is so thoroughly undeserving of his nice guy image, his slagging off of Ross Taylor in his autobiography was especially dire

I'd welcome an Afghan test match just to see a literal ironic application of the term ''minefield'' to describe the wicket.

Some people are mentally incapable of mediating their choleric prejudice against Australia. For some reason they are as proud of their bigotry like fat bastard was of his dead ***y body. A circle jerk of posters furiously beating themselves off for the entertainment of the whiny passive/aggressive snots who reflexively like their posts.

Imagine bragging about a tour match that happened three years ago when Bracewell, Craig, Neesham, and a bunch of specialist batsmen bowled most of the overs.

Imagine whinging about said game and tour matches in general when you rock up and have your specialist batsmen bowl so many of the overs...

Who's "bragging"? I swear more and more people don't bother reading and just post bull**** so they have something to complain about

OK, so it's more that you don't understand the game than you're trying to niggle.

The pitch looks like something NASA would have a closer look at, but you can't figure out why specialist batsmen bowled so many overs.
