What have we learned from the 1st test?

This was about the 10th time in last 3 years when India set up the game nicely, was probably slight favourite after 75-80% of the game play. Yet could not close the game out. It's because we are relying on heroism of Bumrah or Pant to set tests up. Setting up tests is one thing but winning requires depth of skill which we sorely lack.

Yeah, you need two bowlers that are genuine wicket-taking threats at the very least to win Tests. Looks like India fans are going to have to stay content with Bumrah's shiny stats to go with a ton of away losses, and a few at home too, in the near future.

Yes, when England invented the game we wrote WC final tiebreakers into the code. Not at all dishonest
